What is your training philosophy?
Our services prioritize the wellbeing of the animals and the people who care for them. This means we use the carrot, not the stick, and find ways to motivate our learners using reward-based, force-free strategies. Our consultants are Fear Free Certified and committed to a LIMA training philosophy. Read more about our mission, vision, and values.

Meet the Team

Tegan Macdonald
Tegan believes that the key to an enriching life is having the knowledge, skills, and ability to meet your goals, and she created Felix & Fido Animal Behaviour Consulting to help you and the animals you care for do just that.
Tegan is an active community member and life long learner with a strong commitment to excellence. In 2025, she graduated from Virgina Tech with a Master’s degree in Companion Animal Behaviour and Welfare. She is an honours graduate from the Academy for Dog Trainers (CTC), she is an elite Fear Free Certified Professional – Trainer (FFCP), and is Low-Stress Handling Certified (LSHC‑S). She is a professional member of the Canadian Association of Professional Dog Trainers (CAPDT) and a supporting member of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC). These organizations require adherence to standards of practice and codes of ethics, which are much needed in this unregulated field.
From 2016-2022, Tegan worked in public service and non-profit management helping organizations and individuals improve their animal behaviour and welfare practices and achieve their goals. She has developed policy and procedure manuals, staff and volunteer training programs, behavioural interventions, and enrichment programs for all variety of companion animals, from dog aggression to guinea pig agility!
Tegan started her career in the physical sciences working in nuclear physics research where she gained a deep appreciation for the sciences. This experience shaped the type of behaviour consultant and animal trainer that she wanted to be and led her to the applied science of animal behaviour and welfare.
